Seaman Ira Clifton Delaney 1906-1980

He served aboard the U. S. S. Brough from 1943 through sometime in 1945.

NOTES: After completing a roofing job at the TNT plant near Chattanooga, Tenessee in 1942, Ira went to work for J.D. Helton Roofing Co. of Chattanooga (paid .57 cents an hour) , the J. D. Hilton Co. was roofing at Oak Ridge ,Tennessee for the Atomic Energy Commission. Near the end of 1942 Ira was drafted into the Navy. In 1943, he was assigned to the USS Brough which escorted Convoys of Material and Troop Ships to the war zones. He made 5 trips across the Atlantic. Tour of duty was 2 years.
