View of the USS Brough starboard side twin 40
mm gun. Originally when the USS Brough was
built, she had one twin 40 mm gun, but as the air war developed in WWII the
single twin 40mm
gun was replace with a double twin mount 40mm guns to enhance anti aircraft
defense. This
view is only showing the starboard side twin gun mount but there are four gun
barrels on a
double twin or quad 40 MM gun mount. Note the gun sighting device to the right
of the gun
